Etxe (et-CHAY) is taken from one of the oldest known languages on Earth: Basque. In Basque, Etxe refers to a shelter, domicile, or home. An important unit of community is a 'place' for artists to convene and feel free to create. Here at Etxe Records we view ourselves in a similar light for like-minded bands/artists.

Etxe Records is an independent Washington DC based record label. We intend to highlight and celebrate place-based sonic art.

We have released Girl Loves Distortion's debut Digipak CD - Earth Beings On Exhibit in August 2008. It is available physically via Dischord Records and downloadable at iTunes, Amazon MP3, Rhapsody, eMusic, etc.

We are amidst brainstorming with comrades on a myriad of label related details. We will roll out more information regarding our community-minded label as they become available.
