Etxe Records is an independent Washington DC based record label. We intend to highlight and celebrate place-based sonic art. We are proud to announce the launching of this web site in September of 2008. In the summer of 2007, the band linked up with local producer and engineer Hugh McElroy (Black Eyes) to record their debut album Earth Beings On Exhibit at Swim-2-Birds Studio. His studio was located just 10 minutes from where the songs where written, and the opportunity seemed like a perfect situation for many reasons, especially considering the reflective nature of the songs. With an equal affinity for post-punk aggression and songs with a defined beat, the group recorded stripped down, moody, dance-oriented songs that contained subtle electronics, and in some cases, plenty of space. The resulting nine songs are a great cross section of the group's collective influences and perspectives. more >>
