Spring 2018 Update!

We are still reeling from the tremendous outpouring of support and love from our 10-year Anniversary Showcase at the Capital Fringe Theater in Washington, DC.  A heartfelt thank you to all that came out to our showcase and have been supporting our artists . . . its what keeps us going!  We commemorated the occasion by issuing our first compilation CD with rare/unreleased tracks from virtually all of our artists from the first 10 years of operation.

Blade of Grass:  Etxe Records' latest addition just played a scorching set at the Off Sunset Festival as part of LA Leather Pride.

The band is readying a new single "Looks So Good" for release on Friday April 20th with a release party/show in El Sereno, Los Angeles to commemorate the occasion and celebrate liked-minded community artists.

Additionally, Blade of Grass will be playing The Satellite in Silverlake, Los Angeles as part of the Wild Riot and Beat Lab Academy presentation of Spring Break Mini-Fest on April 30th featuring $10 Tattoos and live art.  Other artists on the bill include Spacers, Plasmic, Electric West, and many more.

Silo Halo: The band released their self-titled, third full length record on January 19th, 2018.  The Blog That Celebrates Itself ran an in-depth "Track By Track" feature wherein Greg and Chris provided background and context for all 10 songs off their latest opus.  The clear lavendar vinyl looks as stunning as it sounds replete with original artwork from Los Angeles based artist Rudy Espinoza with layout by Team Friday.  Grab your copy here!

Near Northeast: In 2018, we revisited "Mostly Just Sand" -- one of the earliest songs by Near Northeast - with reworked and stripped down instrumentation, incorporating cajon, violin, upright bass, and acoustic guitar, and decided to shoot a live version on a DC rooftop for the band's 2018 NPR Tiny Desk competition video entry. Check out the video, and wait around for the surprise appearance by a chopper for the crescendo! You can find out more about the NPR Tiny Desk competition here.

On April 7th, Near Northeast will take part in a night of poetry and music with Peyman Allahvirdizadeh.  Peyman left Iran 11 years ago to show his love to the open road, and is still in love after 11 years. Read his poetry here.

The event will take place at DWELL, a completely off-grid creative space in Trinidad, Northeast D.C. Proceeds will support Girls Rock D.C. -- suggested $10 donation. 1240 Florida Ave. NE, Washington, DC.
